Blessing Bags for the Homeless

Last month, John Grossman spoke to middle school RE classes about his experiences as Ray, the homeless man.  His talk helped raise awareness of the plight of those living on the streets.

As a way to respond and take positive action, middle school RE students will be making blessing bags for the homeless. A blessing bag is a gallon-size Ziploc bag that contains supplies that a homeless person would find useful.  Students will be able to make a bag to keep in the family car, so that, at that next encounter with a homeless person — at an intersection or on the street — the blessing bag can be offered to them. A list of suggested supplies was sent home with students.

Supplies will be collected through February 14 and the blessing bags will be made in class on February 23 and 25.  Please bring supplies to Peggy Goralski’s office or to RE class.

All are welcome to contribute to this Middle school service project. Check out the flyer HERE for details.
