Dear Parishioners of
St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church,
I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry. I am a recent transplant to the Chicago area. I spent the majority of my life in Connecticut where I grew up, went to school and eventually worked and raised my children. I am the proud mother of four amazing young men. (I may be a bit biased)
Right out of High School, I recognized my thirst for wanting to work with youth and marginalized communities. That led me to attend Sacred Heart University and to major in Social Work. I quickly fell in love with working with young adults that had developmental and intellectual disabilities. I have been fortunate enough to work in residential, day programs as well as educational settings. In 2005, God had other plans for me. I had the pleasure of becoming the Youth Minister at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Weston, Connecticut. I served in that position as well the Director of Religious Education for ten years. What a blessing. Not only was I able to grow in my own faith formation but I was given the opportunity to develop, and share with young people as they explored their faith and personal relationship with Christ and the Church.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with our rescue dog, reading, walking, traveling and exploring new restaurants and museums with my husband, Philip.
It is an honor to work with gifted and dynamic young people. My experience has taught me how important is to be direct and not water down our teachings. Young people are hungry for the Word and want to learn how to incorporate their faith into their everyday life. My goal is to assist them on their faith journey, To help them see their value and worth, and to know that they can and should make a difference in the world around them.
I am thrilled to be a part of the St. Thomas community. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!
