Couples can learn to ‘Fireproof’ relationships with a free movie at St. Thomas the Apostle Oct. 9
Couples – married, engaged or dating – are invited to a free movie, “Fireproof,” that can help strengthen and affirm their relationships, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Lighthouse room of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
Kirk Cameron, a former child actor in the TV show, “Growing Pains,” stars as a firefighter whose seven-year marriage has become tenuous. The movie demonstrates that not only buildings need to be made fireproof – the principle of “being able to withstand damage” also applies to relationships. And an old firefighters’ axiom, “Never leave your partner behind,” qualifies as well in marriage as in relationships.
According to one reviewer, “‘Fireproof’ is amazing, action packed, heartwarming and a great resource to help strengthen and affirm marriages.”
Six follow-up sessions, opportunities for discussion that will be held monthly after the screening of “Fireproof,” also will serve as “date nights” for participating couples. Attendance at the movie is not necessary in order to attend any of the follow-up sessions, and couples are invited to attend as many sessions as possible. Couples also are welcome to bring an appetizer to share at the screening of “Fireproof.”
