FALL 2010 NEWSLETTER
SUPPER & SUBSTANCE: An 8-week dinner & dialogue for 20s and 30s. Wednesday evenings beginning with a wine and cheese "kick-off" on October 13, 2010, 6:30-9:00pm.
Meet new people, or renew friendships, share a delicious dinner, and gain a deeper perspective on life. Contemplative living is a way of listening and responding to our everyday experiences by consciously attending to our relationships with self, others, God, and all of nature. While Bridges uses Merton’s writings as a starting point, it seeks above all else to mine the life experience and spiritual depths of those who use it. $25 reserves your spot and buys the book.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: Live out the Gospel message.
You don’t need to look far for ways to make a difference. Homelessness, peace and social justice issues, poverty, community organizing, hunger, respect for life, human rights, racial inequality and fair education are a few examples of issues needing action. Catholic Social Teachings challenge us to engage with the world and Be the difference. St. Thomas Office of Social Justice does exactly that on a daily basis. Contact Mike Ryder, Director of Outreach and Social Justice at 630-355-8980 ext. 121 to find out how you can get involved.
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION: Do you know where God is working in your life? A Spiritual Director can help.
Spiritual direction, part of the Christian tradition for centuries, is a prayerful relationship between a spiritual director (a person gifted and formally prepared in the ministry of spiritual direction) and a directee. Spiritual direction, which is not to be confused with therapy or counseling, can help those who yearn for a deeper relationship with God, those who desire to grow in their ability to discern and respond to God’s actions in their lives. Monthly meetings with a spiritual director can help develop a sense of inner peace and direction in life and cultivate an ongoing spiritual practice. Are you interested in finding a Spiritual Director? Please contact Chari Rosales, Director of Adult Faith Formation at 630-355-8980 ext 138.
AuthenticLIFE is a young adult ministry of St. Thomas the Apostle which seeks opportunities for adults in their 20s and 30s to experience God in their everyday lives.
