Are you or someone you know a Job Seeker?

Job Seekers
The Jobs Ministry was started to help all those seeking employment. There are 3 parts to our support for those in transition: Community, Learning, and Networking

Community
Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. (after the 8:30 a.m. Liturgy) Lighthouse, on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Friday’s of-the-month. Meetings always feature a speaker/presentation. Those in transition gather to help one another by sharing job leads and contacts, practice elevator speeches, provide job search resources, and review weekly progress. The STA/Jobs Ministry also operates a YahooGroup. By attending one of our meetings, you are automatically extended an invitation. The YahooGroup provides an electronic vehicle to distribute messages, job leads, calendar events, and, job search articles. The YahooGroup also includes several useful job search links, files of previous presentations, database of employed parishioners & ‘landed’ alumni, as well as, calendar of upcoming events.

Evening Meetings take place on the last Thursday of the month and feature a motivational and/or educational speaker. Please check the online events calendar for up to date information.

Learning
Various courses are presented during the year including: Job Placement Training, Resume Review Workshops, and, Six Sigma Green Belt Training

Networking
Job leads are shared through our Yahoo based group. Those who sign up receive daily e-mails with job postings that have been contributed by others in transition and networking volunteers.

St. Thomas has a roster of individuals who have volunteered to act as contacts with those in transition and can aid them in starting their networking. Our volunteers are from a wide range of industries and disciplines and can be a vital springboard into this vital aspect of the job search.
