Parishioners are urged to educate themselves on the current issues, and take action based on our Catholic Social Teachings
On April 12, the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a document, "Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” outlining the bishops’ concerns over threats to religious freedom, both at home and abroad. The bishops called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom, from June 21-July 4.
Are you clear on the issue? Would you like some additional information on the issue? Would you like to dialogue on the issue?
Then attend the information and dialogue meeting on Wednesday evening, June 27, 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The guest speaker is David Spesia, Director of Lay Ministries for the Diocese of Joliet.
Education – Go to Fortnight4Freedom.org and read “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty”
Dialogue – Attend an information and dialogue session at St. Thomas on Wednesday evening, June 27 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. The featured speaker is David Specia, Director of Lay Ministries from the diocese of Joliet.
Action – There will be an opportunity to join the Illinois Catholic Advocacy Network.
