Fr. Frantzdy Update
The OSJ office recently reached out to Fr. Frantzdy for an update. He shared that his health issues persist. He would like to see a doctor in Port au Prince but does not feel that he could safely travel there. Fr. Frantzdy is hoping to find a doctor in Les Cayes.
Fr. Frantzdy was able to distribute Christmas presents to the children of Duchity. There were special celebrations on December 25 and on the Feast of the Holy Family, December 28.
School resumed January 6 and, with school in session, school lunches also resumed. One of the school buildings was significantly damaged by the recent hurricane. They are only able to use two of the six classrooms in that building.
Fr. Frantzdy is providing extended prayer times for the faith community of St. Marie Madeleine. A Day of Prayer is held on the second Saturday of each month. On February 8, an experience of Seven Days of Prayer will begin. Fr. Frantzdy wants people to have confidence in God and not rely on voodoo influences. The people of Duchity experience a great deal of stress and Fr. Frantzdy feels that extended prayer times will help minister to the needs of the people.
He closed the conversation by saying, “Thank you for everything. It would be difficult for me to continue in the parish without the help of St. Thomas. You’re like an angel for me.”
