The American Country Music group Rascal Flatts recorded a song entitled “Bless the Broken Road” and the words go something like this: “God bless the broken road that led me straight to you.”
I feel that those words summarize where I am in my own life now—here at St. Thomas. That blest and broken road of my life led me to the University of Notre Dame pursuing a degree in mathematics, to a career as a software engineer, to Loyola University where I earned a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies, and to St. Thomas where I met and fell in love with Mark, the man who later became my husband. The road then led me down the path of parenthood.
Mark and I have three beautiful children, Josh, Bethany, and Hannah, and it has been an unbelievable joy to see them grow in their own faith and become amazing young adults. More recently, that road led me to Holy Spirit Catholic Community where I worked as Coordinator of Middle School Youth Ministry and to St. Raphael where I worked in their Outreach and Pastoral Care office. And, finally that road led me here to a job/ministry at St. Thomas. The journey has been blest and it is wonderful to be home!
