Prayer for COP30
COP30, the United Nations climate change conference, is meeting in Brazil from November 10–21. This gathering includes delegates from nearly 200 countries, scientists, business representatives and civil society groups. The COP30 summit is especially important because it comes 10 years after the Paris Agreement and at a time when global warming has already breached the threshold set in 2024. One of the main themes of this year’s climate change conference is ‘Just Transition,’ which aims to ensure equity in climate policies.
Let us join the Catholic Climate Covenant in praying for the success of COP30:
God of blessings,
the universe sings of your glory.
Deepen our gratitude for all you have made and awaken in us a renewed commitment to care for the earth and each other.
Inspire world leaders at COP30, with openness to listen to those most affected by climate change and with courage to act urgently and wisely, so that our common home may be healed and restored and all people, and generations to come, may delight in it.
Amen.
