Altar Servers
Altar servers play an important and meaningful role during a Catholic Mass. Serving at the altar is a chance to participate closely in the celebration of the Eucharist, helping the priest and the congregation in a respectful and prayerful way. Altar servers assist with the smooth flow of the liturgy in many ways and support the priest during different parts of the Mass. Their quiet presence and attention to detail help create a reverent atmosphere that enhances the worship experience for everyone.

What Do Altar Servers Do?
Whether helping at a Sunday Mass, a wedding or a special feast day, altar servers play a vital part in creating a prayer filled and welcoming space.
What Is Needed to Be an Altar Server?
All St. Thomas parishioners who have been baptized and received their First Communion and are in the 4th grade or older can serve.
How Will I Know What To Do?
St. Thomas staff provides thorough training and plenty of on-the-job guiding for altar servers. Other trained Altar Servers can help as well.
As a Parent: What Can I Expect?
Parents and families often notice how serving at the altar helps children and teens build character, discipline, and confidence. Serving is a positive way to take an active role in parish life and to contribute to the beauty of the mass experience.
