Be Wary of Phishing Emails
Some people have reported receiving a text or an email reportedly from Fr. Peter. The message indicates that Fr. Peter needs some help and would the receiver please buy gift cards for to reward the diligent staff members. It also says not to call Fr. Peter because of his busy schedule. This is a scam!
Fr. Peter will never ask a parishioner to buy anything for him. He will never ask it to be urgent and will never ask it to be secret.
Please be on the lookout for these fraudulent emails. While the email appears to be from Fr. Peter, if you click on the name, you will see that it is not Fr. Peter’s correct email. Rather it is a fake account. It’s best to ignore and report as a phishing email.
Never provide personal information or purchase anything for anyone from a text message or an email. You should never click on a link unless you find out it is legitimate.
