St. Vincent de Paul Ministry: Helping Families Remain in Their Homes
The St. Vincent de Paul Ministry at St. Thomas responds to calls from local families seeking rent and utility assistance. While national news often speaks broadly about the economy, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers see firsthand what those challenges mean for families right here in Naperville. During the month of August, the ministry received 29 phone calls and was able to provide support to 16 families which included 19 adults and 7 children. In total, $9,959.58 in assistance was provided, with most of those funds helping families remain current on apartment rent. Each family assisted by the ministry had conversations with St. Vincent de Paul volunteers and had the opportunity to share part of their story.
As one might imagine, the month of August placed a strain on the SVDP budget. It is because of your generosity that our St. Vincent de Paul volunteers can assist so many. If you would like to contribute toward the ministry of St. Vincent de Paul, you can donate online or by making a check payable to St. Vincent de Paul.
We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the St. Thomas the Apostle faith community. Because of your support, St. Vincent de Paul can continue helping neighbors remain safely in their homes.
