Although the Mass is our foretaste of heaven, a reality that transcends time and space, it is difficult for limited human senses to grasp. As the Director of Liturgy and Music, Scott is responsible for connecting our human experience with the Divine during Mass.
Behind the scenes, Scott orchestrates much of who and what is seen and heard at Mass:.
- Cantors and choir singers
- Instrumentalists
- Lectors
- Sacristans
- Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist
- Altar servers
- Arts and environment (paraments, flowers)
More About Scott
Scott grew up in Aurora and attended Benedictine University. His skills as a liturgist have been honed in Scott’s work around the country, including being a liturgist and music director in southern California and then in Nevada before returning to Chicagoland soil to share his talents with St. Thomas.
Scott on St. Thomas
According to Scott, one of the most wonderful things about St. Thomas is the extensive volunteerism that makes the parish the vibrant place it is. The parishioners of St. Thomas do not need Amazon. They bake their own bread for the Eucharist, they build their own creche for Christmas and everything in between. Scott believes that getting involved empowers parishioners. The parishioners who pitch in bring a lively, progressive spirit to the parish, and Scott wants the parishioner of St. Thomas to know how thankful he is to all of them for being a part of it.
Scott’s Message to You
“We love you before you’ve even stepped in the door. You are most welcome at St. Thomas.”
