Habitat 2026
The St. Thomas Habitat for Humanity team returned home safely after a meaningful week in Tutwiler, Mississippi. During their time there, the team worked on Houses 49 and 50. At House 49, they added finishing touches to the bathroom and kitchen and installed hardware throughout the home. Next month, House 49 will be turned over to the homeowner, making a long-awaited dream come true.
One of the most exciting parts of the week was the work our Habitat team completed on House 50. Before the team arrived, a storm had damaged the roof tarp. Our volunteers were able to repair the tarp and then completely roof the home. Throughout the week, they worked alongside the homeowner, making the experience especially meaningful.
The team included Mary Ann Rempe, Bob Hartmann, Marcia Hartmann, Thuc Vu, Maria Prekop, Michael Emmert, Doug Surch, Maria McAdams, Caden McAdams and Macy McAdams.
We are grateful for the generosity, hard work and faith-filled witness of our Habitat volunteers. Their service continues to make a lasting difference for families in Tutwiler, and we look forward to sharing more updates as these homes are completed and welcomed by their new homeowners.
