Learn More: Education | Medical Clinic | Vision Care | Giving
Parish twinning is where Catholic parishes with resources to share form a partnership with a parish in need, typically in a developing nation. The relationship gives parishioners of both parishes a forum to share faith, prayer, culture and aid.
St. Thomas has the good fortune of having a twinning relationship with Ste. Marie-Madeleine in Duchity, Haiti. Both churches’ parishioners exchange resources and prayer time to build safety, health, dignity and opportunity for Haitian families, while inviting St. Thomas parishioners to live out their faith through action.
Through our twinning relationship, St. Thomas directly supports health care in Duchity. A medical clinic offers essential services and medications, with supporters helping maintain operations while teams travel to provide specialized care. Optical teams from St. Thomas fit donated glasses and provide vision exams, restoring sight so people can work and fully participate in their communities.
Education is central to our twinning support. Schools supported by our partnership serve early grades through high school, offering strong teaching and recognized excellence for students whose families invest what they can. This educational support builds confidence, skills and hope for a brighter future.
For the St. Thomas community, this relationship provides a chance to live out Catholic social teaching. Parishioners discover that giving has a relational aspect as they experience our community walking alongside, sharing, and learning with our twin parish.
