LEAP of Faith
“We are most human when we see the humanity in others.” (author unknown)
The Inclusive Justice Initiative invites you to take a LEAP of faith with us … discovering the commonalities we all share.
June: LGBTQ Pride Month
Learn: In 1998, the Archdiocese of Chicago, with the approval of Cardinal Bernardin, formed an outreach ministry to LGBTQ Catholics. Today there are broadened efforts to welcome, respect and listen. Recently Pope Francis remarked that we are all beloved children of God and urged all Catholics to show tenderness as God does. https://bit.ly/PopeFrancisremarks
Explore: Jesus sought out those who lived on the margins. In his time, he welcomed them, listened to them and called into relationship those that others rejected. We recognize that God calls us to embrace all of God’s children and the contribution they make to the Body of Christ. Read one person’s experience with his faith. https://bit.ly/parishioneraccount
Act: How does your understanding of God’s all-encompassing love and compassion reflect how you see family, friends, and strangers in the LGBTQ community?
Pray:
Lord God, our Maker,
May we always appreciate the dignity of each person;
Straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender.
May we witness your extravagant artistry of each beloved,
Celebrate your Divine imprint upon each heart,
And recognize how You fashion each human being with purpose and wonder.
Your limitless love creates us all.
We pray for unity,
For tenderness,
For belonging and justice and freedom, …
That the world may know who You are
By the way we love one another …
Your limitless love heals us all.
