Don’t Miss the Conclusion of our Winter Homily Series!
Life-Giving Choices
January 27–28: Solidarity
During the first week, we focused on consistency, emphasizing that every life matters and that all threats to life are interrelated. To become a People of Life and develop a consistent ethic of life, we need to practice empathy.
Reminders and Resources
In the second week, we will explore how unity comes through understanding one another and our interconnectedness. Practicing solidarity means putting our compassion into action.
To complement the series, we have invited Clinical Director of Lighthouse Recovery, Nate Lanthrum, to talk with us Sunday, January 28, at 10:30 am in the Lighthouse. Lighthouse Recovery is an outpatient substance abuse treatment program based in St. Charles, IL. Nate works with high-risk adolescent and adult clients in both the criminal justice system and through private substance abuse treatment. He will be sharing his perspective on how the life-giving choices we all make (or don’t make) in society affect one another.
Homily Series is:
- a quarterly outreach to the parish and beyond, where we explicitly invite others to join us at St. Thomas;
- growth in discipleship as a parish, by focusing on one topic together, pairing Scripture with the needs of the time; and
- community building and engagement with receptions following each service, plus other opportunities to dive deeper into the message.
Bring a friend! All are welcome! If you missed the first week, it’s not too late to watch the video at stapostle.org/video.
