Michael O’Malley came to St. Thomas in October 2017, bringing a wide range of experience. He has served as a musician, liturgist, and educator in parishes and schools throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and Central Florida. Michael began serving the Diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania, as a music minister when he was in middle school. During his time in Pennsylvania, he was also a presenter for various workshops through the Diocesan Office for Worship, and most recently served as the Director of Music Ministry at Holy Family Catholic Community in Orlando, Florida.
Michael is a graduate of Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in music education. He has taught music in schools in Pennsylvania and served as musical director and accompanist for numerous professional and community associations including the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association (PMEA), and the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA). In addition, he has extensive experience working with students of all ages in music programs and theatrical productions. Most recently, he has been an adjudicator for the Applause Awards for Excellence in High School Theatre through the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando.
Michael is happy to be at St. Thomas and eager to serve the parish community.
