On Life’s Journey: Teaching Kids to be Cyber Savvy
Summer can open up a lot of down time for kids, so it’s important for them to learn how to be cyber savvy. When using screens we all need to remember that “we’re always dealing with real people. And real people have real feelings. We always have to use our thinking brains (and our hearts) to make kind, smart choices that keep us safe.” Also, kids need to learn how to talk to a parent or trusted adult if something doesn’t feel right. And we all need to keep in mind that a lot of screen time “changes the brain and robs us of crucial quiet time that boosts creativity and imagination, and guards against anxiety.” Before you click consider: Is it smart? Is it kind? Is it safe? Is this the best way for me to use my time?
