New Position in Pastoral Care
Welcome to Gary Rufo, our new Pastoral Care Ministry Coordinator. Gary will be starting this month to focus on coordinating the Ministers of Care Ministry. This vibrant Ministry holds Communion services at local long-term care and assisted living facilities as well as visiting individuals in facilities and those parishioners that are homebound due to health or medical conditions. Gary spent more than 40 years working in human resources management and teaching business at local colleges. He and his wife became parishioners at St. Thomas five years ago, and he has been an active Hospitality Minister ever since.
“It is in Pastoral Care that I feel especially emotionally and spiritually connected. I love that we can bring God and a sense of belonging to parishioners who are homebound, hospitalized or living in an assisted living facility,” Gary explained. “I really enjoy meeting new people and sharing prayer, friendship and the Body of Christ. I feel strongly drawn to this work and am excited to be even more involved.”
