What we have here at St. Thomas is really good. The Spirit is alive. Yet, there is still work to be done. We are invited to keep doing God’s work by creating an even stronger culture where people feel they belong, can seek and grow in faith, and are inspired to reach out to others.

Over the past year, we have been laying the visionary groundwork for a stronger culture of evangelization and discipleship at St. Thomas. I took on the new director position, we formed an Evangelization team, reinstated our Welcome Ministry and began learning and growing together as a staff and leadership team.

In the coming months, I will share more about what we have been doing, its impact and where we are going. For now, we want to hear from you. The Disciple Maker Index Survey is underway, and your feedback will help us better understand you and how we can serve our faith community. If you haven’t already, please click here and take 10–15 minutes to complete the survey. We are listening.

If you’ve ever received an email from me, you’ve seen Jeremiah 29:11–14 in my signature. It begins, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you …” and ends with God’s promise that “when you seek me with all your heart, you will find me with you.”

I have seen the beautiful difference that letting Jesus into our hearts can make, both in my own life and in the lives of others. After 36 years in ministry, I know that when a community of believers comes together to listen to and support one another, growth and healing can happen. I have seen how sharing our faith stories, even in small ways, can spark insight and hope. I am inspired by the great love Jesus has for each of us and the reminder that we do not have to journey through life alone. There are ups and downs, twists and turns and even moments when we move backward in our faith, yet Jesus’ love remains with us through it all.

I look forward to continuing this faith journey of seeking God together.
