St. Thomas Staff

A Priest with a Unique Perspective

In a lifetime, you will likely never hear a story similar to that of our pastor, Fr. Peter Infanger. Before entering seminary, Fr. Peter Infanger’s life looked a lot like the lives of St. Thomas parishioners now: He was a man with a wife, children, a home and a career — a man seeking the will of God in his married vocation.

When Fr. Infanger was still Mr. Infanger, he accrued decades of professional marketing experience at companies such as Procter & Gamble, Ralston Purina, and ConAgra. In 2013, his beloved wife Michelle went to her eternal reward after a battle with breast cancer. They had been married for over 34 years. The couple raised two sons, Michael and Andrew.

Fast forward: Michael and his wife Amy have had three children; his son Andrew simultaneously entered seminary to become a diocesan priest. His father followed two years later at the age of 59. Fathers Andrew and Peter Infanger were ordained in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

So, in matters of pastoral care where Fr. Peter provides comfort and guidance about:

  • Marriage
  • Parenthood
  • Fostering Vocations
  • Bringing Christ to the public square
  • Caregiving
  • Death

Fr. Peter’s perspective is truly a unique mix of both the wisdom of the Church and personal experience.

More About Fr. Peter

As a busy pastor of a large and ever-expanding parish, Fr. Peter has little free time, but the few personal hours he enjoys every week are spent running for exercise and reading for pleasure. As a detail-oriented person, he especially enjoys carefully researched biographies.  Fr. Peter’s Connecticut roots shine through in his love for sailing and other sea-centric activities.

Fr. Peter on Saint Thomas

As pastor of St. Thomas, Fr. Peter is committed to expanding the parish’s long tradition of outreach and social justice, both in the Naperville area and beyond, especially in Haiti. His care for those in need outside of the parish is easily matched by his care for those within. He feels God at work at St. Thomas when he is ministering to parishioners in all seasons of life, from best to worst, from baptisms and weddings to the difficult moments of tragedy and death. Fr. Peter is inspired by the staff and volunteers whose hard work and dedication make St. Thomas the beacon of the Gospel that it is.

Fr. Peter’s Message to You
