Transitus Service — October 3
As part of our celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, all are invited to the Transitus Prayer Service Saturday, October 3, at 6:15 pm. Transitus is a prayerful remembrance of St. Francis’ passing from this life into eternal life. Each year, Franciscan communities around the world gather on the eve of his feast to remember his final hours through prayer, Scripture, reflection and song. The Transitus invites us to give thanks for the life and witness of St. Francis and to renew our own call to follow Christ with simplicity, compassion and peace. We are especially blessed to welcome several Franciscan Sisters who will join us for this beautiful celebration. All are welcome to come and pray with us as we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis.
An Invitation
Often grief is not a solitary event, it collects. Over time, we have lost friends, family, pets, homes and jobs to name a few. This “collective grief” is often not easy to identify until we stop to reflect on our experiences. We invite you to join the St. Thomas Parish family Saturday, October 3, at 6:15 pm, following the 4:30 pm Mass, for the Transitus Commemoration of the death of St. Francis as Fr. John Regan and the local Franciscan sisters help us reflect on and heal our collective grief.
