What’s It Like?
One question I’m asked most is, “What’s it like being a Deacon?” I’ve answered it each time with a slightly different answer throughout my seven and a half year journey. But I usually end with, “… and I love every minute.” It brings incredible joy to my heart to walk with others on their journey of faith, whether through joyous or sad circumstances. What I heard early on rings true now — God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.
There is a Diaconate Program poster just outside the Main Office. Please take a pamphlet home with you and prayerfully consider this vocation. I can honestly say that being a permanent deacon has made my relationship with Jesus Christ stronger than I ever thought it could be.
