All Saints November 1

Saturday, November 1, is the Solemnity of All Saints. Since this feast falls on a Saturday, it is NOT a holy day of obligation this year. On this day the Church honors all the saints of heaven, God’s holy ones — known and unknown to us. We celebrate all the holy men and women who, throughout the ages, exemplified the faith; whose lives, in some way or another, mirrored the Paschal Mystery of Christ in profound ways. This solemnity honors all the saints; in particular those who are not individually recognized throughout the year. This day, coupled with the November 2 commemoration of all the faithful departed (All Souls), stands at the beginning of the month of November — a month in which we remember and pray for the dead.
