Learn: Who is a humanitarian? You are a humanitarian. In times of crisis and everyday suffering, we possess the hands, hearts and minds that can make a difference. While some are called to effect significant global changes, we are more often called to make a difference in our lives, families and communities. Identify your unique talent or treasure that can be utilized to alleviate suffering.
Explore: Humanitarian efforts play a crucial role in reducing suffering caused by food shortages, homelessness, medical needs and the devastating impact of war. St. Thomas boasts over 20+ Outreach ministries that directly address pressing needs within our local community, spanning Naperville and Aurora, as well as programs in South Dakota, Haiti, Mississippi and beyond.
Globally, Catholic Relief Services in the Holy Land is urgently addressing the catastrophic need to provide food and shelter to the families in Gaza. Over 2 million people are now crammed into an area that is less than half the size of Naperville. As humanitarian corridors begin to open, CRS is actively working to meet these urgent needs.

Pray:
God Almighty, We lift up to you all those suffering around the world today — those displaced, injured, hungry, and grieving from conflicts, natural disasters, and other crises. May we comfort their hearts, heal their bodies, and restore their spirits. We must also protect the vulnerable and provide for their basic needs, including food, water and shelter.
We also pray for the courageous humanitarian aid workers who risk their lives to help others. Grant them wisdom, strength, and protection in their challenging work. May your compassion guide their hands and fill them with your love, so they can be a light in darkness and partners with local communities.
We pray for the leaders and authorities in all nations to have wisdom and courage to bring peace, justice, and reconciliation to their people. May their hearts and minds be open to dialogue, and we all be empowered to be instruments of your peace, love, and mercy.
May we be inspired to stand in solidarity with our neighbors in need and work for a world where all can thrive in your abundance.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
